For those who wish to use graphics containing Norns, but do not have a program such as NornPose to make things easy for them, there are three methods of capturing an image of a Norn in a desired pose.

The first method involves piecing together the sprites for a Norn's body parts, one by one. Although this allows a greater range of poses than a Norn's genome contains, including some that cannot be created in the game, it is obviously pretty tedious.

The second method involves waiting for a real Norn to take the pose you want, and taking a photograph or screen capture when they do. This can also be tedious, as you have little control over your subject.

The third method involves using the ZOMB, DIRN and POSE commands to temporarily force a Norn to take the exact pose you want; first by using ZOMB to stop the Norn's movements, then using DIRN to make them face the correct direction and POSE to set their pose. This third method is by far the easiest, except for one thing: there are many poses (~160) and trying to find the one you want can be even more tedious than either of the other methods.

That is what the Norn pose index is for. The index is a graphical guide to all the poses found in the standard Norn genome. Use it as a reference to pose your own Creatures for graphics, banners, animations, or for any other project you can think of!

Note: No Norns were harmed in the making of this index. In fact Cowpatch was quite happy to participate, as you can see!
